Discussion

The single fill of this shallow pit was a sandy silty loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with 5% chalk inclusions (0.5-2cm in diameter). No daub or charcoal flecking was noted. Of the animal bones recovered, 75% were cattle bones (from the leg and skull).

The pit was cut into hillwash and through slot 012AD08873. It had a U-shaped profile (although this was difficult to determine due to the shallow nature of the feature).
